Dartington Hall Trust

Sue was contracted by The Dartington Hall Trust to assist them in raising funds to pay for the urgent maintenance of the Trust’s GRADE I listed mediaeval Great Hall.

She initially undertook a piece of research sourcing 100 trusts that could potentially be interested in supporting the repairs. She then approached 32 of these trusts with personalised proposals. This left The Dartington Hall Trust with 68 trusts to approach and a whole raft of written material to enable them to undertake the remainder of this task, both efficiently and effectively, in-house.

This work was undertaken too recently to state cost as a percentage of income raised.

Dartington is an international centre for the generation and application of new ideas in the arts, ecology and social justice.

The aims of the Trust are at present realised through a number of arts programmes, notably the Dartington International Summer School and Dartington Plus, a major new enterprise in musical education and development for the South West in partnership with Dartington College of Arts and King Edward VI Community College (Totnes) and supported by Arts Council England; by research, reflection and teaching on environmental and economic sustainability at Schumacher College; by social research and policy development on the protection of children; and by farming, forestry, conservation and retail enterprises.
