Alzheimer's Disease International (ADI) ADI is a small charity with just six members of staff. The organisation had reached a point where they needed to diversify their funding in order to grow. As a small organisation, it was not practical to do this in-house and so ADI hired Sue to help them lever funds from UK trusts and foundations. Initially, Sue was contracted to identify a small number of trusts that could potentially have an interest in supporting ADI's work – bearing in mind that only about 7% of the £2 billion currently being donated by UK trusts and foundations goes to international causes and, that only a very small number of these trusts has an interest in capacity-building. She was also responsible for drafting proposals to the trusts she had sourced. Three years on and Sue continues to undertake on-going research into potential new donors and to develop applications and appeals to be sent to UK and European charitable trusts and foundations. Sue also promotes relationships with current donors through regular updates and reports. In the last financial year, Sue cost ADI 24% as a percentage of income raised.
